A little about me:

I was adopted at birth out of California. I have wonderful parents that adopted me that I love very much and have always been very happy and always known that I was adopted. I guess at about age 25 is when I started getting curious about where I came from and what they looked like. So, I decided to search for my biological family with the support and help of my adoptive parents.

My Reunion

I found my biological mother after only two weeks of searching! We talked for the first time on Halloween, 1995. She was very happy that I'd found her and had always hoped that some day I would. I found I had one half brother, Rick that is about 1 1/2 years older than me. He was also very happy that I found him!!

Another Reunion

After I found my biological mother, she was able to provide me with enough information to be able to find my biological father after another 4 months of searching. I contacted him for the first time just a few days before Valentine's Day. He was also very excited that I'd looked him up and through him I met another half brother (also named Richard) and found I have a half sister named Twila. I haven't been able to meet her yet.

Another Adoption

Before I ever thought about searching for my biological family, me and my husband had the opportunity to adopt (through a fairly open adoption - rather different than it used to be) a beautiful daughter!! She's 8 now and she knows she's adopted.

A Different Kind of Reunion

We recently (April '99) had a get together at my home for an adoption group I met through e-mail. It was in honor of Mother's Day, Birth Mother's Day, and a march that took place in Washington - trying to open birth records. We had a little candle ceremony and sang. It was fun!
